A psychologist-built assessment suite that gives hiring managers a defensible fit score without training, though the reporting is rigid and it does nothing about skills testing.

Pros

  • One candidate sitting covers aptitude, personality and motivations rather than three separate invitations
  • Job-Fit scoring compares candidates against a role benchmark, which makes shortlists comparable across interviewers
  • Reports are written for hiring managers, so results can be used without a certification course or an in-house psychologist
  • Assessments are constructed and validated by occupational psychologists rather than assembled from question banks
  • Connects to mainstream enterprise ATS and HCM platforms including iCIMS, UKG and ADP Workforce Now

Cons

  • Report types cannot be combined into a single consolidated document, so managers juggle several PDFs per candidate
  • No skills or work-sample testing, which is what most technical and trades hiring actually needs alongside aptitude
  • Only the entry plan has a published price; everything above it requires a sales conversation, and the model is subscription-based rather than pay-per-candidate

What Prevue HR actually does

Prevue HR sells pre-employment assessments intended to add a measured signal to hiring decisions that otherwise rest on a CV and an interview. A candidate completes one sitting that covers three areas: aptitude, meaning how quickly they learn and how they handle words, numbers and shapes; personality, scored across thirteen behavioural traits; and motivations, meaning what actually drives their engagement at work. The instruments are built and validated by occupational psychologists rather than assembled from a question bank, which is the difference that matters if a rejected candidate ever asks how the decision was made.

The output is where the product earns its keep. Rather than handing a manager a trait profile to interpret, Prevue scores the candidate against a benchmark for the specific role and returns a Job-Fit result, with companion Team-Fit, Work-Fit and Work Ethic reports and interview questions generated from that individual's answers. A hiring manager who has never read a psychometric report can open it and know which areas to probe. Assessments are sent from the platform or triggered through an integrated applicant tracking system, and results flow back to the candidate record.

Key features

The components of a Prevue evaluation:

  • Aptitude assessment measuring learning speed across verbal, numerical and spatial reasoning
  • Personality assessment across thirteen behavioural traits tied to working style
  • Motivations assessment identifying what sustains engagement in a given role
  • A combined suite delivered as one candidate sitting rather than three invitations
  • Job-Fit, Team-Fit, Work-Fit and Work Ethic reports scored against a role benchmark
  • Interview guides built from the candidate's own results for structured follow-up

Who it's for

Prevue works best where the same role is filled repeatedly and the cost of a bad hire is measurable: contact centres, retail and hospitality management, field operations, healthcare support, distribution. Benchmarking pays off precisely when there is a stable role profile to benchmark against, and the reports give a distributed set of hiring managers a common vocabulary so shortlists from different branches mean the same thing. Agencies presenting candidates to clients also use the fit score as third-party evidence rather than an opinion.

It is a weak choice for technical hiring. Nothing here tests whether a developer can write code, an accountant can reconcile a ledger or a welder can weld, and aptitude is a poor substitute for a work sample in those roles. Small teams hiring a few people a year will find a subscription hard to justify against the number of assessments they would run, and organisations that need one consolidated document per candidate should confirm the report structure first, because combining report types is a known limitation.

How it compares

Criteria Corp covers the same psychometric ground with a broader library and stronger validation documentation, at a higher price and with a heavier setup. TestGorilla approaches hiring from the opposite direction, leading with skills and work-sample tests and treating personality as a supplement, which suits technical and remote hiring better but gives less depth on motivational fit. Hogan is the research-heavy option used for leadership selection and development, and generally requires certified interpretation. Prevue sits between them: less breadth than Criteria, no skills testing at all against TestGorilla, but the easiest of the group for an untrained hiring manager to act on.

Verdict

Prevue does one job carefully. The assessments are properly constructed, the single-sitting format keeps candidate drop-off low, and benchmarked Job-Fit scoring turns psychometrics into something a branch manager can use the same afternoon. The limits are equally clear: no skills testing, reports that cannot be merged into one document, and pricing that is published only at the entry tier while everything above it goes through sales. Buy it as the structured, defensible layer under an interview process for repeatable roles, and pair it with a work-sample test if the job has any technical content at all.
