Tradify is job management software built specifically for tradespeople: electricians, plumbers, HVAC and refrigeration techs, gas engineers and property maintenance crews. It bundles the admin side of running a trade business (capturing enquiries, quoting, scheduling jobs, tracking time, invoicing and taking payments) into one app that works on a phone as well as it does on a laptop. Tens of thousands of contractors use it, and its app store ratings (4.8 stars across more than 9,000 reviews) are unusually strong for this category.

What Tradify actually does

The core idea is a single thread from enquiry to payment. A customer enquiry comes in, you store the contact, turn it into a quote using a branded template and your imported price list, and the quote follows up automatically if the customer goes quiet. Once accepted, the quote converts into a job, which lands on a drag-and-drop schedule where you can see which tech is free and dispatch accordingly. On site, staff log timesheets, attach photos and videos to job notes, and mark work complete. The job then becomes an invoice with the same branding, overdue reminders run automatically, and customers can pay by card online through the Stripe connection. Everything syncs to Xero or QuickBooks, so the bookkeeper never re-keys an invoice.

Who it's for

Tradify is aimed squarely at small trade businesses, roughly one to twenty people. A solo sparkie who quotes from the van gets value on day one; a maintenance firm with a handful of crews gets scheduling and dispatch without hiring an office admin. The 14-day trial requires no credit card, and the company includes free one-on-one training, which matters for owners who are better with a multimeter than with software. It is not built for enterprise field service operations with complex inventory, multi-warehouse stock or deep custom workflows; that is a different product category entirely.

How it compares

The two names that come up most are ServiceM8 and Jobber. ServiceM8 is similarly trade-focused and strong on phone-first workflows, but its scheduling interface feels more constrained and it leans heavily on the Apple ecosystem. Jobber covers a wider span of home service niches and has deeper client-facing features like a customer portal, but it is generally costlier per seat and feels more generic to trades. Tradify wins on speed of setup and how closely the quoting-to-invoicing flow matches the way trade jobs actually run. If you need advanced inventory, asset maintenance histories or enterprise reporting, look at heavier field service management platforms instead.

Verdict

Tradify does the unglamorous things well: quotes go out faster, jobs do not fall through scheduling cracks, and invoices chase themselves. The trade-off is depth; reporting is serviceable rather than powerful, stock control is thin, and per-user pricing means a growing team should run the numbers against alternatives. For a small trades outfit drowning in paperwork, it is one of the easiest job management apps to adopt, and the no-card trial plus free training makes it cheap to find out if it fits.
