Shore review
Online booking, customer records, an iPad till and campaigns in one system for salons and studios.
A tidy all-in-one for German-speaking salons and clinics that want the calendar and the till in the same place, though the employee caps push a growing team up a tier quickly.
Pros
- Booking, customer history, staff rota, till and campaigns run off one customer record instead of three systems reconciled by hand
- The iPad point of sale is GoBD-compliant with a TSE security device, which is a legal requirement German competitors often leave to a separate vendor
- Bookings can be taken from the website, a Google listing and Instagram, with automated email and SMS reminders to cut no-shows
- Deposits can be collected at the moment of booking, which changes no-show economics for longer treatments
- The top tier exports register data straight to DATEV, removing the monthly handoff to the tax adviser
Cons
- Plans include a fixed number of employees, so a salon hiring its third or fifth stylist changes tier for headcount rather than for features
- Shift planning and the DATEV connection are held back to the most expensive tier, which is where small teams least expect to land
- The product is built around German tax and accounting practice, so outside the DACH market a large part of what you pay for is inapplicable, and there is no free plan to test that with

What Shore actually does
Shore is a Munich-built operating system for appointment-led businesses. The calendar is the centre of it: customers book from a website widget, a Google listing or an Instagram profile, the slot lands against a staff member and a room or chair, and automated email and SMS reminders go out before the appointment. Deposits can be taken at the point of booking. Every booking attaches to a customer profile that carries treatment history, preferences and notes, so the person who takes the appointment and the person who performs it are working from the same record.
The part that separates Shore from a pure booking tool is the till. Shore ships an iPad point of sale that accepts cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and cash, issues digital receipts, and runs GoBD-compliant with a TSE security module, the technical requirement German tax law places on electronic registers. Revenue lands against the same customer and staff records the calendar uses, so takings per stylist or per treatment are a report rather than a spreadsheet exercise. On the upper tier, register data exports directly to DATEV, which is how most German small businesses hand their books to an accountant. Marketing sits on top: newsletters, automated campaigns, WhatsApp messages, vouchers, birthday reminders and Google review requests.

Key features
The suite covers the front desk end to end rather than one slice of it.
- Online booking from website, Google and Instagram, with email and SMS reminders and optional deposits
- Customer profiles with treatment history, preferences, notes and segmentation
- iPad point of sale with card, wallet and cash payments and digital receipts
- Room, chair and equipment scheduling alongside staff availability and shift planning
- Newsletters, automated campaigns, vouchers, loyalty prompts and Google review requests
- GoBD-compliant register with TSE and direct DATEV export of register data
Who it's for
The natural buyer is a hair or beauty salon, a spa, a physiotherapy or medical practice, a tattoo studio or a small retail counter in Germany, Austria or Switzerland, a business where the diary and the till are the same operation and where GoBD and TSE obligations are not optional. For that buyer, the case is straightforward: one subscription instead of a booking tool, a register vendor, a newsletter tool and a manual export to the tax adviser.
It fits less well elsewhere. Shore is available in Spain, France and the United States and works in four languages, but the accounting and compliance layer that justifies the price is German. A salon in London or Chicago is paying for a DATEV connection it will never open. The plan structure is the other constraint worth checking before signing: employee headcount is metered, shift planning and the accounting export only appear on the top tier, and there is no free plan to grow into.
How it compares
Treatwell and Fresha attack the same salons from the marketplace side: Fresha in particular charges nothing for the software and takes its margin on payments and new-client bookings, which is hard to argue with on cost, though it puts the customer relationship partly in a marketplace. Phorest is the more mature salon specialist internationally, with deeper client retention reporting and loyalty mechanics, but no German register compliance. SuperSaaS and Calendly handle scheduling more cheaply and nothing else, so a business that needs a compliant till still ends up buying a second system. Shore's argument is the DACH compliance stack, and outside that region the argument mostly evaporates.

Verdict
Shore is a coherent product for a specific market, and the coherence is the value: one customer record behind the diary, the register and the campaign list, with the German tax requirements handled rather than outsourced. The caveats are the pricing shape and the geography. Employee limits mean the bill moves with hiring, the features small teams most want sit on the dearest tier, and a business outside the DACH region is paying for compliance it cannot use. Inside that region it deserves a serious look; outside it, a marketplace-funded competitor will usually cost less for the same diary.
