Boulevard review
Booking, point of sale and client records for salons, spas and medspas that run on appointments.
The most complete client-experience platform for multi-provider salons and medspas, though per-location pricing and paid add-ons put it well above Vagaro or Square Appointments.
Pros
- Self-booking respects service duration, provider skill and room or equipment constraints instead of a flat time block
- Point of sale, memberships, packages and gift cards run against the same client record as the calendar
- HIPAA-compliant charting with photo markup and ePrescribe covers medspa treatments, not only hair and nails
- Booking flows plug into Instagram, Facebook, Reserve with Google and two-way Google and Apple calendar sync
- Card on file, deposits and automated reminders give front desks a workable answer to no-shows
Cons
- Billed per location, so a three-shop group pays three subscriptions before a single add-on
- Forms, the QuickBooks Online connection and ePrescribe are separate monthly charges on top of the plan
- The entry tier caps the business at five professionals, forcing an upgrade as soon as a sixth chair is filled

What Boulevard actually does
Boulevard is the operating system for an appointment-based beauty or wellness business. The calendar, the till, the client record and the marketing sit in one account rather than in three systems that argue with each other. A client books from the salon's own site, from Instagram or from a Google Business Profile listing, chooses a stylist or an injector, leaves a card on file, and the appointment lands in a calendar that understands how long a balayage takes and which room the laser lives in. At checkout the same record carries the colour formula, the retail products bought, the membership balance and the loyalty points.
The medspa side is what separates Boulevard from ordinary salon software. Charting is HIPAA-compliant, intake forms and consents are digital, treatment photos can be marked up next to the clinical note, and ePrescribe is available for practices that need it. There is also an AI receptionist, Beau, that answers the phone, books appointments and captures enquiries when nobody is at the front desk. The product is sold per location on a three-tier ladder, with several capabilities priced as monthly add-ons rather than folded into the plan.

Key features
Most of what Boulevard sells is aimed at protecting the calendar and the client relationship.
- Precision Scheduling, which places new bookings into open gaps instead of leaving unsellable dead time
- Point of sale built for service businesses, with card on file, memberships, packages and instalment payments
- Client profiles that hold visit history, formulas, notes and before-and-after photos
- HIPAA-compliant forms and charting with photo markup, plus ePrescribe for medspa practices
- Automated reminders, confirmations, loyalty offers and email or text campaigns
- Multi-location and franchise reporting with per-provider performance and payroll-ready numbers
Who it's for
Boulevard fits a business with several providers, a real front desk and a client base worth remembering: hair salons of six chairs and up, day spas, barbershop groups, and medspas that need charting rather than just a booking link. Operators running more than one site get the most out of it, because reporting, memberships and gift cards work across locations rather than per shop.
It is the wrong purchase for a single stylist renting a chair or a solo massage therapist. At that size the per-location fee buys capacity that will never be used, and Square Appointments or Vagaro do the job for a fraction of the outlay. It is also worth pausing if the plan is to run on the entry tier indefinitely, since the five-professional ceiling and the paid Forms and accounting add-ons mean the advertised entry price is rarely the price a growing shop actually pays.
How it compares
Vagaro is considerably cheaper and handles scheduling and payments competently, but its client record and reporting are shallower and the booking experience feels more like a directory listing than a brand's own site. Mindbody has the larger consumer marketplace and dominates fitness studios, which brings discovery Boulevard cannot match, though its interface shows its age and its billing has a long history of complaints. Zenoti aims higher, at large medspa and franchise groups, and wins on inventory depth and enterprise controls while being slower and more expensive to configure. Boulevard sits between them: better designed than Vagaro, lighter to run than Zenoti.

Verdict
Boulevard earns its position for appointment businesses that treat the calendar as revenue rather than a diary. Self-booking that respects real service constraints, a point of sale tied to the client record, and medspa-grade charting in the same system remove a genuine class of daily friction. The caveat is what the invoice becomes in practice: the plan is charged per location, the entry tier caps professional count, and forms, accounting sync and prescribing are billed on top. Groups with several sites and a full appointment book absorb that comfortably. Small independents should price the alternatives first.
